I’m so glad to be back on campus after a long, but seemingly short spring break. I had an awesome time off, starting with the celebration of my 19th birthday on March 5th!
One of my good friends Maddie took me to see Demi Lovato in concert at the Sands Casino in my hometown, which was absolutely fantastic! Demi Lovato was very very inspiring and had a lot to say about sticking up for yourself and being true to yourself!
For my birthday I received a very pretty necklace that has a circle with a heart symbolizing the “circle of love”. This “circle of love” has a huge meaning in my family so it was such a coincidence that my mom found this. Before eating dinner, we would always say this phrase after saying the prayer of thanks, it is, ” Bless this circle of love, dear Jesus we love you.” I’m not sure how long this phrase has been in my family but it’s a huge tradition so it is very sweet of my mom to get this for me.
I also was able to get my ear’s pierced a second time, which was a painful but fun experience! I’m happy to have gotten it redone. (I had it previously pierced, however it closed up due to the amount of times I had to take it out for soccer in high school). My boyfriend also got me a very cute bracelet that has “love” on it with rhinestones around it!
Among a lot of other gifts, I was very surprised to find that when I went to go visit my high school this previous Friday, I located an article from the local newspaper that talks about my schools mini-THON that I was assisting in as a photographer! I was so amazed to see that my name was in the paper for helping out at such an awesome cause! I cannot believe they wrote about me in this article! It was only two sentences, but this is a big deal for me, next to the other time I had a photo published in the Maryknoll Catholic Magazine!
It was even more amazing that I got to see my little baby Claire. She’s a crazy dog, but she’s very loyal and cute! She was sad to see me go back to school. I also got to see my cat Elly! Both are such sweeties!
When I came back to school, I was excited to see that my friends had decorated my side of the room with ribbon, hearts, and a cute sign above my bed that read, “Happy Birthday!”, my roommate also wrote the same quote on our window with paint! My friends had done all of this for me and I hadn’t even opened up their gifts for my belated birthday! They all gifted me with very sweet presents with Hello Kitty stuff galore! My roommate gave me these pretty bracelets, and more than I can imagine, and my suite-mates gave me nail polish, earrings, a hello kitty phone case, etc!
Coming home was so much fun for me, and I could not have asked for a better present than to be with my family and friends for my birthday. It was very generous of them to think of me and get me presents, but them being there was enough for me! I am absolutely completely lucky to have the friends I have, and the family members there for me!
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break and that it was as perfect as mine was!
